True friendship

We all pride ourselves as educated. We all pride ourselves as modern in our thinking. We all pride ourselves as broad minded. We all take pride in our ability to develop friendships & bonds across religion, race, language, ethinicity, race and colour.

It is really fantastic that true friendship can transcend most borders. When we know that two people from two religions can be good friends, two people from different caste can be good friends, why are we not accepting good friendship between two people belonging to different gender?

If we are taught to respect all the man made differences such as religion, language, caste etc., why are we not taught to respect the only natural difference, gender based. Instead of respecting the gender based differences, we are taught to despise the difference itself. We are taught that the gender based differences are evil.

Dont we know that the gender based differences are more natural and divine than any of the other differences like language, religion or caste, all of which were man made?. How many of us are able to treat our frienships same way, irrespective of gender differences? How many of us are able to respect (not necessarily give in) the attraction that happens out of gender based differences?

Answers to this questions will tell us how advanced and modern we are in our thinking.
